What we oppose...
Arvadans for Responsible Transportation (ART) is a group of Arvada
residents who oppose the proposed tollway from US 36 in Broomfield
through Arvada and Golden to C-470 and I-70.
What we support...
ART supports substantial improvements already existing roads in the
area, specifically SH 93. We also support improvements to other arterial
roads including Indiana St., SH 128, SH 72, Wadsworth Blvd., Kipling
St., and others.
The Facts...
- If a tollroad is built, congestion on I-70, SH93, Indiana, Wadsworth, Kipling and other north/south arterials with remain virtually the same. Arterial roads such as these will be left unimproved (increasing congestion) to force commuters to pay tolls.
- Building a tollroad will cost 6 Times More than improving existing infrastructure.
- Over the next 35 years, a tollroad would run a deficit of $513M unless subsidized by tax payers (taxes plus tolls)
- All studies performed to date agree improving
existing roads is the best answer to solve traffic
issues in the NorthWest area.
- It will take the same amount of time to go from Broomfield to Golden on improved infrastructure as it would a new tollway
- Improving the existing infrastructure WILL CONNECT THE LOOP!
